ROBBEN WILL STAY
The president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness, has said that Arjen Robben is not going to leave the club in the near future. In the last few days, there have been reports that some big clubs have shown interest in Robben and the Dutch striker might leave Bayern Munich during the mid season transfer window. But, Hoeness made it clear that these reports are completely false.
When asked about the reports of the transfer of Robben, Hoeness said, “I have also seen some reports about the transfer of Robben. I want to make it quite clear that the club is not going to sell Robben during the mid season transfer window. He is a great asset for us and we want him to keep playing for us till the end of his career.”
Robben has been playing for Bayern Munich since the last three years. He had signed for the club in 2009. Bayern had bought him from Real Madrid after paying a transfer fee of 25 million Euros. Robben has proved to be a very good buy for the club and he has performed consistently for Bayern in all the three seasons that he has played so far.
Robben has played 97 matches for Bayern so far in which he has scored 56 goals. In the final of the Champions League in the last season, Robben’s performance was not up to the mark. He hadn’t managed to capitalize on a couple of easy goal scoring opportunities and he had also missed a penalty. The Dutch striker was criticized a lot for his dismal performance in the match.
When asked about that match, Robben said, “That was a tough day for him and it can happen with any player in the world. One bad match doesn’t mean that he is a bad player. He has been the hero of many victories of Bayern in the last three years.”
Robben has been struggling with muscle injury in the ongoing season and he is not supposed to feature for Bayern in the match against Fortuna Dusseldorf which is going to be played at Espirit Arena on Saturday.
