ROBBEN BACK TO HIS BEST
The Dutch winger Arjen Robben has been one of the important players for Bayern Munich over the last few seasons. Alongside Frank Ribery, he has been able to terrorise several defences over the last few years. Many regard him to be at the same level he was at Chelsea.
Even though he has suffered injury problems throughout his career, the 29-year-old has certainly managed to establish himself at the Allianz arena. However, this season has been a little bit difficult for the midfielder because he has not been a first-team regular under Heynckes. Robben recently scored in the 2-0 win over Wolfsburg, and he has spoken about the lack of regular first-team opportunities.
Even though he is a left footed player, Robben plays on the right and cuts inside to devastating effect. However, Heynckes has preferred the German Thomas Müller in place of Robben this season, which is not exactly pleasing for the Dutchman. The latest Unibet Tipping suggest he will be moving on in the summer, though the views of fand differ online.
Robben has made just 10 appearances all season, while he has also not set the world alight in terms of goals. He has managed just two goals in these 10 matches. Heynckes has had no reason to recall Robben to the first-team, as Bayern Munich have been an excellent run of form both domestically and in European competitions.
“I’m not happy, I want to play more. I hope I play on Tuesday against Arsenal, but I’m not hopeful. It’s a big game and I see no reason why I shouldn’t play,” said Robben. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger has managed just one start in the last four Bayern Munich matches. Robben will be returning to England once again, as Bayern prepare to face Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League. The German club are yet to concede a goal in the calendar year.
