ROBBEN CRITICAL OF REFEREEING STANDARDS IN UCL

Bayern Munich winger ArjenRobben remains critical of the standard of refereeing in the quarter final fixture against Real Madrid.

Real went into the match with an advantage after securing a 2-1 finish in Germany the previous week. The German contingent was not at their peak as they had injured stars sidelined. Javi Martinez was red carded before Real went on to win using their advantage.

Bayern came with a strong mentality in the return leg in Spain but Arturo Vidal, who missed a penalty kick in the previous leg, was sent off. Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals in alleged offside positions to change the game in its dying minutes. Robben was unhappy with the decisions the referees made as it heavily influenced the game.

“You know in my opinion what I think is it’s a shame that you see such a great game, everyone in the world, neutrals, Madrid fans, Bayern fans, see great match. It was two top teams, a joy to watch. And then a game like that is being decided by crucial decisions by referee. Read more »
