MUELLER: ROBBEN NOT SELFISH
Bayern Munich player Thomas Mueller has said that Arjen Robben is definitely not a selfish player. The former Chelsea star has been accused of selfishness by the Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer, who appeared to suggest that Arjen Robben might be a good player, but he needs to reduce his selfishness in order to make his teammates feel more important.
According to Franz Beckenbauer, Arjen Robben is the kind of player who does not celebrate with his team mates, even when they have made a significant contribution in helping him score a goal. However, Thomas Mueller has come to the defence of his teammate Arjen Robben by saying that the Dutch star is definitely not a selfish player.
Thomas Mueller was the top scorer at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He is now an integral part of the Bayern Munich team. It has often been said that the presence of Arjen Robben has made it difficult to integrate Thomas Mueller within the team, as both of them are similar kind of players. However, the player has said that he is extremely happy to be part of a team that contains Arjen Robben because of the fact that he is not a selfish individual.
“We’ve heard this often before, but these charges of egoism don’t apply because one of the aspects of Arjen Robben’s game is that he is very strong in dribbling and you usually dribble alone,” Mueller told reporters Tuesday,” Thomas Mueller said after Franz Beckenbauer made a comment about the former Real Madrid star. “He is selfish like so many others. He has to think more of being useful to the team, ” Beckenbauer said. Arjen Robben so far has made 12 appearances for the club this season, and has scored five goals in the process.
